The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle

Merano | Maia Alta

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, where nature and art meet since 2001, extend in a natural amphitheatre over an area of 12 hectares, presenting more than 80 botanical environments representative of the entire planet and stations dedicated to the visitor experience, including ten artistic pavilions, Matteo Thun's spectacular viewing platform, the underground botanical world and the "Lovers' Garden".

South Tyrol Museum of Tourism: Trauttmansdorff Castle towers in the centre of the gardens. It is home to the Touriseum, the South Tyrol Museum of Tourism, which interactively tells 250 years of Alpine tourism history. It shows how tourism came to the Tyrol and how it changed the region and its inhabitants, alternating between the point of view of inhabitants and visitors.
